Expensive stroller question

I'm only 11 weeks today, but like a psycho I've already gone through websites like Buy Buy Baby picking out items I want to eventually register for

I really like the UPPAbaby Vista and the Bugaboo Chameleon and the Bugaboo Bee. I'm just wondering why they are sooooooo much more expensive than other strollers?

Any input/experience with these?

I know I have time.........I'm just wondering about the differences. TIA

Get the Baby Bargains book! It breaks down each brand's pros and cons and gives overall ratings. It includes Uppa Baby and Buggaboo

Buy Buy Baby sells the book. I forgot mine when I registered so I just used one of theirs and put it back when I was done. I was NOT driving back home just for the book.

I had a lot of friends with Bugaboos when my DD was an infant. I had the BOB Revolution. I love mine! When we'd go to a farmer's market in a park, the Bugaboos were awful on the grass and uneven surfaces. When we'd walk down the street, my friends would have to push with two hands to control the steering, I'd push with one hand and hold a coffee in the other with no issue.

One of my friends sold her Bugaboo on Craig's List when her DD was 8 months and got a BOB, when she had her 2nd she got the double BOB.

Two of my other friends bought BOBs several months after having their babies and have their Bugaboos sitting in their shed/garage!

IMO and from my experience, Bugaboos are overpriced due to marketing.

I would not use the BOB for everyday. I have it for running, which it is great for (also wonderful for the beach & apple picking ). The basket is TINY, and you really can't get anything in there unless DC is out of the stroller.

I have the Baby Jogger City Select and I LOVE it. I was between that and the Uppa Baby. I chose the City Select mainly because I planned on having 2 under 2 (I'm PG with DC#2 right now ), and the ease of use. I think the Uppa Baby looks nicer, but it doesn't compare at all to the City Select when having 2 kids.

As far as I know, the Bugaboos are really heavy like my City Select. IMO they're way too overpriced.

My advice would be to go to BBB and spend an hour or two checking out the strollers. I spend about an hour trying the two strollers out. It was much easier to make my decision that way.

I have a Bugaboo, and enjoyed it much more when I lived in Brooklyn. I use it now for when I have to walk far (ie amusement parks, and long walks). It has no food tray which I realize now is really annoying when taking 2 kids out, and I need to feed and keep my one year old in one place. So I hate to admit it, but I use my $80 Graco Metrolite more than the Bug. It's just more convenient for my lifestyle right now. The Bugaboo does handle very well. I have NO PROBLEM pushing it with one hand, loaded with stuff. It's not a jogging stroller, so off road it handles well, but not as well as my Baby Jogger Classic (I have a double).

You'll see them a lot in the city and the boroughs. Places where you don't need to get in and out of cars as much. And lots of pavement walking.

It's well made and handles very well. Looks really nice. And has some nice accessories, but no food tray.

This is what I plan on getting!! I hear nothing but raves for the City Select!

You sound like me at 12 weeks!

I did TONS of research, test drove the models you mentioned and others.

I would NOT recommend the Bugaboo Bee, it's very low to the ground (compared to the others you named) and doesn't stack up to the Chameleon or the Uppa Baby Vista.

After reading Baby Bargains, I went with the I'coo Pacific. Take a look at it, significantly cheaper and the seat itself converts to a bassinet, with Uppa Baby you need the separate bassi attachment.

I would also recommend the City Select- GREAT stroller, kind of wish I would have purchased it since I'd like to hvae another child soon after this one....will definitely invest in that once #2 is here.

ETA the Pacific is my neighborhood stroller- for walks int he park ect. For mall/shopping, I went with the Aprica Presto Flat, it's an umbrella that takes a baby seat so can be used from birth. That one will be in my trunk at all times.

For my Mom (she'll have the baby twice a week at her house), I purchased the Britax B-Agile since it's light and VERY easy fold.
