Expectations from invite

If you got an invitation to an event and it was titled something such as "cocktail party" or something that makes it obvious it is a cocktail party, and then it said on the invitation
"Light Hor D'ourves will be served."

How much food would you expect?

What about if it made no mention of food? How much would you expect then?

It also says the party is 5pm-8pm.

Thanks for your insight.

if it saud "light"...I would probably think i should eat a little something before I go cause it would be more like snack food and not enough to add up to a meal.

i'm thinking you'll be having cheese and crackers, maybe some fruit and a cocktail frank thrown in for good measure as you down alcoholic beverages for three hours. I would have a late lunch/early dinner before you left.

Re: Expectations from invite

I'd eat before I went. There will probably be tons of chips, cheese, crackers, fruit, and (if I were hosting) a few different kinds of hot finger foods.

Re: Expectations from invite

If it said light, I'd eat first and expect things like chips/dips/salsa and maybe something like a pig in a blanket, but probably no more than that.
