Excruciating pain...
Hi ladies...I'm currently curled up in the fetal position and thinking this is not normal. I'm 6dpIUI and I'm having stabbing pains in my vagina (sorry tmi) that honestly feel like someone took a knife to me. I'm also experiencing cramping in my entire abdomen & by my right ovary. I would get similar pains (but not as bad) when I would ovulate some months. I had a laparoscopy done on march 7th & both endo and scar tissue were found and removed. I was having similar pains on Sunday after the IUI was done & slight throbbing pains Monday & Wednesday. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experiences. I went for blood yesterday & my progesterone is at 35.1 and I've been taking progesterone and estrodial since Sunday. DH thinks I should go to the hospital but I'm trying to just let this pass.

Excruciating pain...
Haven't had this experience after my IUI's. if its as bad as you say it is then definitely go to the hospital. It might be something else. Feel better!

Re: Excruciating pain...
Do you have fever? Could be an infection from IUI. If pain meds don't help and you can't get out of bed, I'd go to the hospital. They can give you something for the pain and see what's going on.
I have had intense cramping after and IUI but nothing a heating pad and Tylenol couldn't help.

Re: Excruciating pain...
Thanks ladies! I was able to gradually get out of bed...pain is a little more tolerable. No fever, thankfully...so I don't think it's an infection. I figured the pains on Sunday were ovulation since the trigger was late Friday night but the pains today threw me for a loop since its 6 days later. If it persists, I'm going to call the doctor and see if I can go in on Monday.

Re: Excruciating pain...
I don't mean to alarm you, but this is exactly what I experienced with BOTH of my ectopic pregnancies. If it's that, it's VERY dangerous and you need to get yourself to an ER immediately.
Have you taken a HPT? If you're having an ectopic, there should be HCG in your system.

Omg really? Thanks for letting me know...I didn't think this was normal. No I haven't taken a HPT yet but I will ask DH who went out to run some errands to pick one up. I'm assuming the test would come out positive then?

Re: Excruciating pain...
An hpt might be positive from the trigger still. You triggered Friday so it's only been 8 days.

Ok well that's a good sign. I would still contact the RE on call if you're in that much pain.

I never had that type of pain after IUI. I usually have a pinching and cramping feeling. I would call your REs emergency line if the pain persists. Good luck.

Re: Excruciating pain...
I had a similar pain right before I went away on Mothers Day. Mine just so happened when I was getting my AF but I still do not know what it was. Mine lasted 3 hours and almost went to ER. It was the worst pain and all I can equate it to is feeling like I was in labor(that's what I imagine it to be at least). Are you still in pain? Mine went away which is why I didn't call dr. I wish I could help you but I almost think mine may have been severe gas(gross I know) along with AF. That is my only rationale since it eventually went away. I was left with my entire abdomen feeling sore for two days after. It felt as if I had done 5000 crunches in a row. Awful. Hope yours is better today!!

Excruciating pain...
Lala08 - its def much better than it was yesterday. i'm still having pain right by my right ovary. at first I thought it might have been gas pains & constipation but it was so bad & so crippling that it couldn't be. i'm calling the RE tomorrow to consult with them. I had some pain the last IUI, but nothing like this time. btw how was your Aruba trip? I hope you had a relaxing vacation!!! thanks ladies for all of your advice and continued support. definitely speaking to the doctor about this!

Re: Excruciating pain...
Do you have OHSS?
This was the first cycle I took off for an IUI, and I'm so glad I did the cramping was UNBELIEVEABLE that day, and the day after. I figured I had mildly overstimulated, but it was never so bad that I had to call the doctor.
Now it just comes and goes, but I contribute that to the progesterone I'm taking.

Re: Excruciating pain...
I spoke to the nurse today & they had me go for blood work. They think it could be overstimulation...so we shall see.
