evenflo symphony dlx

Hi ladies i recently put a post up about which car seat you use for your little.

It was very helpful thank you all very much for your imput....dh and i ended up going with the evenflo symphony 65 dlx all in one car seat beaufort.

I only have one issue with it...i have it set to the most reclined position i can ....the first day we had her in it i drove out to holstvill and she was awake and all was well...( we still had the insert in cause she is small and skinny so she needed the padding in my opinion) . On the way home she fell asleep in the car and was slumped over i stopped several times to put her head up ( waking her up) i felt like i was stoppin every two exits cause i didnt want her to get a neck ache or (which i dont think she would ) but stop breathing from being slumped over.

I was told on the britax seat you can use the tether strap in the back to pull down and attach to the car seat to recline the car seat a little more but evenflo doesnt allow it , the guy who installed it told me to call evenflo and see if they would allow in and get their name which made me nervous cause it made me think i was affecting the safetly of the seat and my dh ifi mess with the seat .

Anyone else have this issue with their seat i think the symphony ld is the same ans the dlx they look axactly the same minus the fact that mine comes with some leather on it and the lx does not.

Re: evenflo symphony dlx

I have the symphony for DS (not the DLX though) and have found that if the seat isn't level to the ground he has this problem. I HATE that there is a sticker and not a bubble level (although that might be different on yours, idk) so I take a small level and put it on the lip of the seat base to make sure it's level. My manual (and a car seat person) say to put a rolled up towel under the seat to make sure it's level, check that yours is level, hopefully it'll help !!

Re: evenflo symphony dlx

My seat guy told me if i want to use a towel i would have to bring it somewhere else or do it myself cause it affects the safety of the seat :(. I don't have the bubble either ...we have it set to the number one setting but she isn't very reclined back and when she falls asleep he head slumps over ...i don't know if its cause she is still little she is 10 months older this friday but she is only 18 pounds...we took the pillow insert out still didn't help im at a loss . The guy told me to call even flo. About using a teather strap to pull the seat down from behind a lil. I don't know if i should go to a diff instal place maybe the guy pushed it to close the the back seat with out reclining it ? Or im thinking of returning this one and looking for something different . When your child sleeps n the seat do they slump over...im scared no matter what seat i chose they will all have the same outcome.

Where are you located? NO manufacturer allows the tether to set the recline angle on RF. They allow the tether to be used, but it should be taut not pulling on the seat at all. Evenflo does not allow this.

I prefer a pool noodle over a rolled towel. Both are allowed, it does not affect the install and is not unsafe.

It's fine for her head to slump forward, it happens. She is old enough to have head/neck control at 10 months. The 45 deg angle is for newborns.

Where did you have this seat checked for you?

Re: evenflo symphony dlx

The seat has to be reclined between 30 and 45 degrees (IIRC from when I had it installed once) my manual specifically says a rolled up towel can be used. Read yours and see. the seat HAS to be level in order for the recline to be correct. I wouldn't add the top tether to pull it down, that to me is not correct. What car seat person did you go to (FM me if you dont want to post here).

DS had been in the seat for a while, and the only time he slumps like that is if the towel gets too squished and I have to take out and reinstall the seat (the seat itself isn't too loose, its just the towel that flattens over time) I have to open and re-roll the towel, reinstall the seat and then he's fine.

Every seat might have the same issue if the base of the seat isn't level to the ground like it is supposed to be. I would double check the towel thing with your manual, and if possible take it to another car seat installer ASAP.
