europe flight prices

we are looking to go to amsterdam and florence in february.

does 700 sound decent? This is to fly JFK-Amsterdam and Florence-JFK. Its the low season but I have never paid so much for a flight to Europe before. TIA

Are you going the week kids are off from school? That could be part of it... Try skyscanner.net, it'll go through a bunch of different sites and give you the best price, maybe you can find something a little cheaper.

I don't think that is bad prices - especially if they are direct flights.

The taxes and fees are what get you on international flights - they are as much as 50% of what you are paying, so there is only so low the price can go down KWIM.

I really haven't seen flights to Europe under $550 (except for those really random, one time promotional type deals with a lot of strings attached). I would think anything under $800 is good for direct flights at the days/times you prefer.

Kayak is a good site too that searches multiple sites to give you the best deal.

I think Tuesday/Wed are the best day to book flights.
