Etiquette Question

I just started a new job and one of the VP's father-in-law passed away. We got the email. She responded to me about something else - is it appropriate to respond back and express my sympathy in that same email? Not sure protocol here.

Thanks!

Re: Etiquette Question

I would send two different emails. I don't think it was right of her to send a business message with a bereavement announcement. You can reply to the same email both times, just keep the context separate, IMO.

Re: Etiquette Question

I think that since she piggy backed it onto a business message, a response in kind would be appropriate. I may be off base here, but sending a separate e-mail might serve to highlight her faux pas???
