Estrogen issues???

So my last cycle of IUI + clomid they noticed that my lining was borderline at 6 and they like it to be 7-8...so they put me on estrogen...that cycle was a bust so my question is could that be a reason why we had a BFN? Also, is it the clomid causing this...this will be round 4 on clomid...they put me on estogen earlier in my cycle now...just wondering if this is normal???

TIA

clomid can cause your lining to be thin. Its hard to say whether or not the thin lining prevented you from getting pg or not, but in any case if you are starting earlier w/ the estrogen, chances are you will have a thicker lining when it comes time for you to O.. good luck! Chat Icon

Re: Estrogen issues???

I dont think the thin lining will prevent you from getting pg-it could have an impact on implantation. Not sure how estrogen impacts that. And yes, clomid is known to lead to lining issues. You should talk to your RE about your concerns though.
Good luck!!

thin lining could be the reason, but a 6 is borderline OK. its not the worst it could be just a BFN cycle. there isnt always a reason. however yes clomid def contributes to thin lining so you should as your RE about switching to femara, similar ovulatory effects without thinning the lining.

Re: Estrogen issues???

It's possible that this is the reason for implantation failure. Do you know how the pattern of your lining aside from just the thickness? Meaning, was it homogeneous? Trilaminar? Recent studies show that the success rates are the same between 6-8 as long as there is a trilaminar pattern. Estrogen should help thicken it unless the cause is from end organ damage which isn't likely unless you had multiple surgeries done on your uterus. Clomid can also see have a thinning effect!

Good luck!! I'm having lining issues now too Chat Icon

Re: Estrogen issues???

Clomid can thin out your lining, that's why it is recommend to not exceed more than 6 cycles of Clomid, some docs won't even do more than 3. I was put on estrace on the cycle after I stopped Clomid, to help thicken my lining. At one point I was at a 12, which my RE was not too thrilled about, so it does help thicken the lining.

Re: Estrogen issues???

To answer your first question I don't think so I known people who conceived with linings less than that. You could have grade A embryos perfect lining and they just don't implant.
