Estate planners
My SIL works for an estate planner in Massachusetts and she recommended to dh and I that we create an estate instead of a will. In her experience wills are contested too often so your wishes are better protected with an estate. Anyone know of someone here on Long Island that doesnt charge too much?

I can help you with names. Just a quick note, an "estate" is not what she is referring to. Your estate is your assets when you die. Wills can be contested and are. Your SIL was referring to an irrevocakable trust which can not be contested.
Anyone needing help finding someone in this area is free to FM me.

Re: Estate planners
Actually she may be referring to a life estate.
IMO wills aren't contested that often unless there are many assets involved or the person is elderly. A good lawyer should be able to make you a very solid will.
We have both wills & health care proxies set.
