Escrow ???
how much "extra" is in your escrow acct?
our taxes were paid may first, and enough to cover our h/o for TWO years. AND we dont have star yet (we will in december) - so if there is a lot over in your escrow acct - do you get some bacK?? do they always leave a large cushion?

My experience is that most lenders audit their escrow accounts in March. Every March I get a letter for a shortfall, and its always the amount my school taxes went up for that year.

our first year in our house we got a 3k refund, only to find out 6 months later they made a mistake & we had to pay it back.
go over your papers with a fine tooth comb to see how much "extra" money you are required to have.

I have a question, when do they do this evaluation? In January? I cannot believe that they would give back a refund then make a mistake and make you pay it back! Could I have my lawyer look over the refund if there is one to make sure something like that won't happen? That's ridiculous!
