Episiotomy or Tear

If you've had one how was birth the second time? I think I have thick scar tissue built up from my tear and I'm hoping that doesn't impact my next birth.

Re: Episiotomy or Tear

Had an episiotomy ( likely not needed) the first time that took forever to heal and had granulation tissue. Had a tiny tear the 2nd time healed great. No real impact for me

I think I had an episiotomy the first time. The second time I tore and had a ridiculous amount of stitches. It didn't really bother me other than it becoming itchy during the healing.

Episiotomy or Tear

If you have scar tissue, take vitamin E and massage it on the affected area. That really helped to break it up for me within a short period of time. I don't have a second child so I can't comment on that.

Re: Episiotomy or Tear

I had an episiotomy with my first. It never felt right afterwards, even though Drs said it was fine it was just very uncomfortable. My 2nd came quickly and naturally, and I tore pretty significantly, but I healed so much better, and any discomfort from my first's birth was gone also once I healed the 2nd time.

Had one with my first. Didn't tear at all with my second. She practically flew out lol. My third I tore a bit but he was a tough delivery. I've had no complications with any. I heard pretty quickly this time around.

I tore with my first (3rd degree ugh) so it was a rough recovery and I never felt quite right after. But with my second, he came out smoothly, minimal tearing and ironically enough, after recovering easily from his delivery, I felt like I was "back to normal" again.

Had an episomoty and wish I didn't. Apparently it was a small cut but never felt right after and I feel like here is an extra little piece down there.

Episiotomy or Tear

I had both an episiotomy and bad tearing with my first. My 2nd and 3rd deliveries were a breeze. Both super fast, babies out in 2 or 3 pushes, and had slight minimal tears.

Re: Episiotomy or Tear

I tore both times, and it was HELL. 4th degree tear both times. My last birth, they actually had to repair between the vagina and the rectum.

The first time, I ended up with a hematoma which was SO painful. The 2nd, ended up infected where I had stitches.

For both, I couldn't walk or move for weeks while both of the issues cleared up. I would say it was a good 6-8 weeks for both before I felt better.

Today though, no lasting effects at all.

with my first dd I had 3rd degree tears, with my second dd - I only pushed for about 15 min and she popped right out. I had 2nd degree tears but I was up and walking around within hours. felt much better the second time!

Re: Episiotomy or Tear

I had a reluctant episiotomy (my OB hates them) and third degree tearing the first time. Horrible recovery. Had mild tearing and a really easy recovery the second time, DB was born in one push!
