Endometriosis
I had a sonogram this morning (not TTC yet, but it was related to something else), and the technician asked me if I have endometriosis. I told her no, and she then showed me the screen and pointed out where she saw the endometrioma on my right ovary. She had to run it by the doctor, and I will be hearing back from them tomorrow or Wednesday, but I'm wondering how worried I should be about this. I told DH about it, and he was online all afternoon doing research. I have been on BCP for several years, so I never felt any of the menstrual symptoms. I know there are different severities, and that it can be removed through a procedure, but I'm just wondering what everyone's experience with this is. Does it make it a lot harder to conceive? What if it's only on one ovary?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Endometriosis
Endometriosis and an Endometrioma Cysts are different. I have a long history of cysts on my ovary, Endometriomas. It usually forms from a ruptured follicle and sometimes goes away during your menstural cycle. Unfortunately mine do not and I have had 2 surgeries to remove them. It is not a major problem when TTC. Sometimes if they get to big in the ovary this will decrease your chance of producing a follie in that ovary. I have always had one on my right ovary, and have one now even though I just had surgery in Oct. But to my surprise with all the meds I took I produced 2 good sized follies (which is rare for me) on my right ovary. So you never know and by all means do not take what I say word for word, as I am just going off of what I have been told by my doc. Your doctor will be able diagnose exactly what is going on and offer some solutions. Good luck!
FM me with any questions.

Re: Endometriosis
i have endometriosis and have had surgery to remove scar tissue and a cyst on my left ovary. My doctor was able to remove the cyst without having to remove any part of my ovary - but even if he had to he said one ovary is enough to conceive with!
TTC can be more difficult if you have endometriosis but it all depends on what stage it is and where it is. But that's if you even have it...you might not!
i was told being on BC would stop the growth of endometriosis. so right after the surgery i went on BC, until i decided to TTC.
