Endometrial Biopsy
I'm having an endometrial biopsy on Monday. What should I expect pain wise?
TIA

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
I won't lie... I found it very painful. I took four motrin and a XANAX before hand. It still hurt for several days.
Good luck... I hope yours is way less painful.

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
Good Luck! It is painful during the procedure. I would recommend bringing someone with you. My husband was with me to hold my hand.

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
For me the pain during the procedure was like sharp shooting cramps. It was very uncomfortable. Afterwards, I needed to lie down for several minutes because I felt dizzy like I was going to faint. Thankfully I had no serious pain after it was over.
Definitely take Motrin or some pain killers beforehand, and I agree about bringing someone with you. I wished I had someone there in the room with me, so I held the nurse's hand. Hope it goes alright for you.

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
I would take motrin, but ask how much. Try to stay relaxed. The more relaxed you can make yourself, the faster it will go. You will now be anticipating pain and when you feel them pinch the side of your uterus you will think about the pain...but...guess what...its over in a blink. So what I'm saying is...by the time you realize it really is painful...its over. Some people have pain throughout the day but I never had that. I have had 3 biopsies. Well two of them were co-culture samples, something only Cornell does.
When doing stuff like this I try to use visualization methods, that my DH taught me. Basically think of a time when you were really happy and see it in your mind and concentrate on that, play it over and over again in your head. It really does take you away from where you are and you may not even have any pain if you can really visualize and take deep breaths. It works for me most of the time.

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
Thanks for all the advice!! I had the biopsy an hour ago and I survived. I had googled and went in sooooo nervous. Actually wasn't as bad I anticipated. Like a few of you said sharp pains, but very quick! Onto the next step. Starting Lupron today and stims on the 20th. Hoping adding a few new things to my protocol with lead to success.
