Endometrial Biopsy
I am having this done tomorrow in preparation for my IVF cycle. Does it hurt? What should I expect?

Re: Endometrium Biopsy
I felt a little pinch during the procedure(I've had it 3 times) Also they will use a speculum which is always uncomfortable for me but like a pap.

Thanks for the info The speculum really is one of the hardest parts -- so uncomfortable! Were you in any pain after the procedure? And what exactly are they checking for?

Most likely if your endometrium is the thickness it should be for that day in your cycle. If not they will probably give you endometrin to build it up a bit. It can also be used to check for infection but I doubt that is the purpose for an IVF clinic

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
I have also read reserch that it causes new cells to grow which makes implantation easier.
I don't mean to scare you but, honestly, mine hurt. I WILL say that it was over within 30 seconds, but I wish I was a little more prepared for the pain.

Re: Endometrial Biopsy
Just got back, and yes, it did hurt I was happy DH was in the room with me. I am still crampy and uncomfortable, but I'm sure that will pass by the time tonight rolls around. Thanks for the advice - I took extra strength tylenol before the procedure like you girls suggested!
