Ending Nap Question
Well, advice I guess. We've been having tons of sleep trouble with DS the past few weeks, since starting school, potty training, and now the daylight changing. He was also in and out of napping all summer. I;m wondering if I should just end them altogether. On days he doesn't nap , although he's a cranky mess by 5pm - he goes to bed in 10 min and sleeps 11 hours. Days he naps, even if I shorten it to 1 hour, he's a mess at night no matter what time I put him down. He is 2.5 (32 months actually). Should i keep trying to nap him here and there or just totally give it up since nightime is so much better?

Re: Ending Nap Question
I stopped the naps at 3. Sooo much easier. Main reason I couldnt before was bc he was in daycare. When I left my job that was the first thing I stopped. When he napped it took forever for him to go to sleep. Plus, he'd wake up cranky. When I first stopped the naps he was cranky around 4pm everyday. I figured... Either way he's cranky, but I delt with it bc he would go to sleep at 7 with no issues.
Now he's 3.5 and does t get cranky anymore. We have downtime now (during the week mostly when we don't have any plans) where we read books or just chill and watch a tv show around 4. He eats dinner around 5:30 then bath, book ans in bed 7 shortly passing out after.
I say try taking the naps away. When he gets tired give him milk and watch a little tv. Been working for us. Good luck!

Re: Ending Nap Question
My kids go through stretches of refusing naps, but I just kept with the sched. and they would usually get back into routine. DS stopped napping at 4 (he still has "quiet time" during this time for an hour) and DD is 3 and still doing her 2-3h nap. Both kids go to bed at 8-9 also.
I knew it was time to limit naps when my son wouldn't sleep, but if he did nap he would have trouble at bedtime. My kids are both sleepers so I know its not the norm. My DD sometimes does 8-10 and still naps!! LOL!
