Employment Attorney...
Does anyone know of an employment attorney that would give a free consultation?
Or a rate they would charge to send a letter on someone's behalf?

Call Jeffrey Nannes in Jericho. He is the former chair of the Nassau Bar's Employment Law Committee. I'm not sure what his fee schedule is but I'm sure you could easily ascertain that information over the phone.
