Empire BC/BS and breastpump coverage
we have empire bc/bs, a ppo, through north-shore/lij (employer). does anyone knwo if they cover breastpumps?

I have the EXACT same insurance. I called Edgepark today.....I am 99% sure it is covered 100%.
I will post when I know more, but when I asked the last time it was covered.

Yes through NS-LIJ....DH works for them.
It's covered 100%!!!
I ordered mine yesterday and it was on my doorstep today!

I have Empire as well. How does this work? Do they reimburse you? Do you have to call the expecting mothers 800 number on the ID card?

I also have Empire BC/BS and it is covered. I will have to pay only 10% coinsurance - they pick up 90%. I already called Edgepark and they are setting everything up for a Medela Freestyle. I am soooo excited to be getting a breastpump through insurance!!

I guess I have a different Empire BC/BS b/c when I called only 50% was covered and you had to go through the medical suppliers they gave you.
With their suppliers the pump was like $600+ so my out of pocket would have been what it would cost me to just go to BRU and get one.

DH works for NS-LIJ also and we dont have Empire through his job (but we do through mine) - everyone's coverage is different at NS-LIJ.

I too have Empire BC/BS but it was not covered at all for me. I was told it's a convenience item, not a necessity.

Its your to keep. I am almost 23 weeks. I called my insurance company first (Empire BC) - the customer service number on the back of my id card.
I would call now. You have nothing to loose!
