Email "voice"
I have something that my husband calls email "voice".
He says I sould a lot harsher when writing that I do in real life. Colder may be the better term. And I am not really a "cold" person per se.
but I am methodical when I type and when organizing my thoughts to write them down. and sometimes they come across like that.
he actually doesn't let me email my SIL (well, HIS SIL-brother's wife) b/c she and I don't get along and my emails are super "methodical" (but this is mostly me trying to keep myself controlled and impersonal)
so...does anyone else have this affliction? are you not "allowed" to email certain people b/c of how you come off?

Re: Email "voice"
I don't know about the "not allowed" part but I have to re-read my emails because I tend to sound nerdy. I hardly ever abbreviate or use slang in texts also.

Re: Email "voice"
I'm an adult so I'm allowed to email anyone I want!
I think I come across much more matter-of-fact when I write, but I'm a lawyer. That's my job!

My husband says the SAME thing. I have been told on more than one occasion that I sound b!tchy in my emails to his sister. Oh well.

I had it in quotes b/c while he would never tell me I can't...he ALWAYS offers to do it for me...and she's the ONLY person he does that for.

Re: Email "voice"
I can't email with one of my friends -- for some reason we take everything out of context and end up pi$$y with each other for no reason. It's much easier to call then to create hard feelings.

Re: Email "voice"
I am actually the contrary. I sound much harsher in person than in my emails. Especially when conducting business. But in both I go straight to the point (without any "personal" attacks!) so that usually "disturbs" people.
