Just a quick question, i am 17 weeks, going back to the gym tomorrow more consistently.. is the eliptical safe? or should I stick to the treadmill? I have to keep this weight gain in check!

thanks!

Yes, it's fine but you have to be careful with cardio. You cannot overheat yourself. So your heartrate needs to stay lower.

I would ask your OB about what he/she think is safe for you and what level of activity/cardio he/she wants you to do.

Always ask your OBGYN. If you haven't been doing it consistantly under their care, you must ask!

I think the elliptical would be safe as it usually has a heart monitor on it and it is low impact. Remember to keep heart rate below 140.

Have fun!

Re: eliptical and pregnancy....

My doctor gave me a formula for the heart rate to stay under. I am doing the elliptical, but much more slowly than before. I don't want my heart rate to get too crazy.
