elastic topped pants for preschool

In the papers school sent home, it asked that we put them in elastic topped pants every day. I don't kow, maybe I'm putting fashion ahead of function, but I can't see putting my DS in sweat pants every day for school. I know they are trying to make going to the potty as easy as possible, but am I seriously never supposed to put him in jeans, or God forbid overalls?

A lot of jeans have the fake snap in the front and are elastic. I put Jared in sweats most of the time. It IS easier for him to go to the bathroom and move around on the floor/playground. Jeans tend to be stiff. He only goes to school 2 days a week so I guess it's no big deal if he's not in jeans all the time. I save the jeans for when he's home or when we go out.

I did buy him some cute track pants and wide legged sweats, which I'm fine with him wearing most of the time. But I also bought him some really nice, cute sweaters that just look silly with sweats.

I bought strechty elastic waist Levi's that look like jeans. I love them since my babies are crawling(and I also have one baby with junk in the trunk so he is not comfy in jeans!)

Just looked at the label-they are called Little Levi's I am not sure if they have Toddler sizes-but its worth a shot.

I think lots of kids that age still can't button or snap their pants and as a teacher, it must be very difficult to re-fasten everyones pants after trips to the bathroom.

I did get some cute pants from Children's Place that are elastic waist. One was like a khaki cargo pant and I think one was courdoroy. I think they had denim ones too. If I remember correctly, I think they were called "pull on pants". They would look cute with sweaters.

I'm going to CP tomorrow, so maybe I'll find some cute pants. Only one pair that I bought recently are elastic topped without being sweats/track pants. But I do think I'm going to have tp put him in regular jeans once in a while.

I know at our school they will say they prefer elastic waist pants, but they don't say you can't do jeans. At back to school night last year one of their teachers explained it this way: There are an average of 10 kids in a class. Even though they are only there for 2.5 hours, most of the potty trained kids go to the bathroom at least once, and in the first few weeks of school, 2x or more a day. A lot of it is the novelty of having a real toilet their size they can use. The kids who are actively potty training may ask to go every time another kid is going. It just makes all those trips to the bathroom faster.
