EBF moms vitamin question...
So my ped said that EBF babies need Vitamin D and to give DD Tri-Vi-Sol BUT, the tri-visol has all this junk in it - artificial flavor and coloring - what is the point of EBF if I'm just going to put that junk in her anyway?
My question is anyone know of organic or natural vitamins I can give my newborn? What did you do?
TIA!!!

Re: EBF moms vitamin question...
Ugh....my ped said that too. I switched immediately (because of that and a few other substantial differences of opinion). Your baby has enough Vitamin D reserves for 6 months from your pregnancy. Then, you would need to take a vitamin D supplement after the 6 months is up IF you have a deficiency (many if not most people do...but certainly get it checked before taking anything.). Vitamin D protects against rickets..which if you look up the origin and epidemiology of...you are probably not at risk for because of your diet, your exposure to outdoors and possibly your race (it's higher in certain racial groups than others). Trivosol contains not only Vitamin D but Vitamins A, E and maybe C. It also has a ton of unnecessary additives...sugars, preservatives, dyes, etc. If you insist on taking the supplement, I would recommend Carlson Baby D Drops. There are 2 ingredients...vitamin D and coconut oil. It's all natural, and you place on drop on your nipple per day. However, remember that this is definitely not warranted until at least 6 months of age and even then, it's questionable.
