Ebayers...give me some help here!
I bought some dungarees for my son and they are described on Ebay as 18-24 months, they arrived today and they are CLEARLY MARKED on the inside that they are 2T sized. I am slightly annoyed, but they are nice overalls and the kid will look cute in them when he is a 2T sized.
Do I leave her bad feedback from the getgo or do I contact her to let her know that this is the case and I am not happy.
What do you think???

Absolutely contact her and try to resolve it. Sounds like an error to me and would be surprised if she doesn't make good on it. Maybe she's selling a lot of clothes and put the wrong ones in your package.

See, if you read the negative feedback guidelines, you should always allow the seller a chance to rectify the situation.
As for the 24 hour deadline, that's a bit harsh, especially if you want to keep them anyway (that's more grounds for a neutral rating if you still want to keep the item).

I agree- as a seller - I would always want the chance to fix it- I switched 2 pairs of pants once - it was an honest mistake and I fixed it
however- I don't like threats, deadlines and people saying they are going to leave me back feedback if I don't do X, y, or z in 24 hours

EXACTLY! As sellers, feedback is crucial and you always allow a seller to rectify the mistake. But you don't even want to return the item which is so not grounds for negative feedback.

I gave her the 24 hour deadline as other feedback often says that sellers don't respond. I find that deadlines very often get results, so I gave her one!!! The email wasn't unfriendly, I wanted her to know that I wasn't happy! I did ask if she had sent me the right item.
She got back to me and told me that she decided the size was more 18 months than 2T, so I said it was misleading. I am going to give her neutral feedback I think as the product is nice, but the size is not as described.
So thats the end of the story!
eta..I'm not trying to make friends, I was just trying to buy a pair of overalls for my kid!

I don't do tons of ebaying, but I have bought lots of new stuff, baby stuff, this was kind of my first foray into used stuff.

If they have a lot of transactions then I would buy from someone with a 96.4% rating. I also check this:
Members who left a positive: 185
Members who left a negative: 0
All positive feedback received: 269
This is my FB and shows a lot of transactions with the same Ebayer which I think is a good indication of how someone does business.
I think it's weird the seller decided the garment ran small and risked negative fb.

it's questionable
I have 280 overall comments
211
and 1 negatitive- which was undeserved IMO- and my score is 99.5%
I wouldn't buy from anyone below 98%
in this case- I would read the feedback and depending on the cost of the item- decide if I would bid or not

for me personally - that is not high enough. I won't buy from a seller with less than a 99% rating. UNLESS his/her negative feedback was more than a yr ago. so far, my instincts have paid off. I've never had any problems buying on eBay.
in fact, I ordered a new battery on eBay for my swatch watch 2 weeks ago and it never arrived. I contacted the seller and he sent me another one, no questions asked. now THAT is good service!

As a seller I take pride in my 260 100% rating. I would only buy from somebody with a 98% or higher. I always check feedback. Sometimes folks leave negative feedback to hastly. I try and do anything to avoid that. I've had a couple of unhappy buyers, but I usually will issue a 50% credit as a good will gesture depending on what was the issue. Only once did I offer a full refund. Feedback is a crucial part of selling on ebay, but you always have to give the seller a chance to change things. I often say, would you just knock Macys if you ordered something and it came broken, no you would contact them, arrange for a return, the same should be done for buying online.

I don't pay a ton of attention to the % feedback but I look at the actual numbers. I never seem to have a great experience with very high volume sellers. Some of them have good percentages but the number of negatives is in the 100s.
I once was a regular at a seller who had great feedback, then the feedback started to change for the worse, but I was already her customer so I wasn't concerned. Well, that feedback should have been a clue b/c her service to me started to change for the worse.
Also beware of people who get bad feedback and then create a new name. You can sometimes tell if 2 sellers have similar items and the listing is done in the same style or with the same graphics (but there could be other reasons for that).
My parents work their a s s e s off as ebay sellers and this is their feedback:
Feedback Score: 3218
Positive Feedback: 100%
Members who left a positive: 3219
Members who left a negative: 1
All positive feedback received: 3905
The negative was over a year ago!!!!!
So far, I have only been a buyer not a seller and I am at 100%.
ETA: I restrict my purchases severely because I have become very picky about the sellers that I will deal with.

Hmmmnn...that is weird that she decided to list them as 18 months. She could have at the very least said "Tag says 2T, but I think they fit more like 18m" - ThHAT I would appreciate as a buyer. It's not like they give you a word limit in the description area, she could have written something to cover all bases. So she's lucky you left her positive instead of neutral.
I too take pride in my 100% positive feedback and try to make good on any issues, which in the 248 feedbacks I've received, have been very few. At least now they give you a chance to have an additional comment when someone leaves you feedback. I sold my sons first Halloween costume and it was size 0-9 months on the tag. I said similar to what that woman should have said about the pants - that the tag said 0-9 but I couldnt see it fitting a baby older than 6 months. The person didnt leave neg feedback but referenced it being on the small side in her comment area. I was able to leave an additional comment saying that I CLEARLY stated in the auction how it ran small. This way, long after the auction is no longer accessible, future buyers see that I was a seller who gave plenty of information. I think that goes a long way.
So, do the pants fit your son like 18m pants as she claims?

Yes, I probably could have been a little bit clearer in my description. I really only do this to clear out my cupboards and am probably not as accurate as some of those proffessional sellers!

See, this would annoy me. If she put the size stated on the tag, it would have been accurate and so much easier then guess what size she thought it should be. You don't need to be a professional seller to do that.
Oh well, I hope they fit your son sooner then later.
