Eating food with fingers/moving onto silverware
Now that DD does not eat baby food, all her food is eaten with her fingers. If I give her a baby fork or spoon she just bites it. It is bad to teach her to eat all her food with her fingers? When should I introduce silverware more consistently?

Re: Eating food with fingers/moving onto silverware
DD is 20 months. She eats pasta etc with her fingers. She has gotten to a stage where I cannot feed her yogurt - she wants to do it herself. I give her the spoon and 1/2 hour later I grab a wet paper towel and find her face!
In the last week or so she will let me put food on the fork for her, and then eat it off the fork instead of pulling it off the fork with her hands and shoving it in her mouth.
I think we started giving her the sliverware when she started pulling it out of our hands. There was a time when we needed two spoons - one for her, one for us to feed her.

DD started with the fork around 17 months but now at 19 months it's half fork half fingers. With the spoon & yogurt I sprinkle a few cheerios in the yogurt so she has something to aim the spoon at. Still a mess but she's getting the idea.
