Eastern Long island to Jersey City
I may need to travel from eastern long island to Jersey city in november. I am such a chicken when it comes to driving in the city so the thought of navigating all that city traffic makes me
I would need to be there around 8.30 am so rush hour.
Does anyone know if could take the LIE to somewhere on long island and then pick up a train that would get me to jersey city? Would I have to go to Penn first?
Thanks!!

LIRR into Penn but then you would need to walk to where you pick up the PATH train which goes into Jersey City.
When you say driving into the city do you mean NYC or Jersey City? If you are trying to avoid NYC then just take the George Washington over and take the exit off the NJ turnpike.

I personally wouldn't drive. I'd do what the PP suggested and take a train to Penn and the then the Path (entrance is one avenue from Penn Station) and take it to Jersey City. Do you have address in Jersey City? Most commercial office buildings, etc. are pretty convenient from the Path.

Re: Eastern Long island to Jersey City
I lived in Jersey City for 3 years so I did this route to LI to visit my parents A LOT. Sometimes it took 1.5 hours and others over 3 hours, so it's unpredictable. When we did the drive it was always through the city (Holland Tunnel, Manhattan bridge, BQE, LIE), not over the GW.
The train will feel long but at least you can plan for how long it takes and not worry about driving.
Walk down 32nd Street from Penn Station's 7th Ave exit for the closest transfer to the PATH on 6th Ave.

If you can get to the E train in Jamaica, take it Downtown to the last stop, and you can get the Path train from there (minimal walking, and indoors I believe) to JC.

I had to do that commute for a while and this is what I did. Not too fun.
