Easter bunny confusion - man vs. bunny
Who do your kids envision comes to your house on Easter eve and leaves a basket? A magical real-life bunny (i.e. Maybe a foot tall, hops around), or a man-sized upright bunny?
My daughter has expressed confusion (I can't blame her!). Growing up, there was never a man dresses like an Easter bunny. I always figured it was a real bunny. But dd sees the costumed men everywhere and she's totally confused. I don't know what to tell her.
She's only 4 so she's freighted by the bunny men (as am I, lol), but I don't want to put the idea in her yet about people dressing up, because I know she still thinks all the Santas are real, as well as all the Disney characters (whom we will see this summer). I want to preserve that a little longer.
Argh! Damned commercialism!

Re: Easter bunny confusion - man vs. bunny
We've never discussed it specifically, but we also don't go and see the "Easter Bunny" at the mall or other events...I personally think he is creepy looking! When talking about things like this (tooth fairy), I have told my girls that people think that they look this way but we have no idea because we haven't seen them, so it is just a guess.

Lol ok good, that's the same thing I said! I don't think she was satisfied with that answer but I'll try to push it along. Yeah, we don't seek out the Easter bunny men but sometimes they are hard to avoid!

That's why I can't. Easter bunny is too obvious. I just tell them that it's a mascot of Spring. The baskets are from me and/or family. We never had an Easter bunny growing up. Was that a thing then??? It's like the elf on the shelf. Seems new to me. They still believe in Santa and tooth fairy and that's enough.

Re: Easter bunny confusion - man vs. bunny
My DD is too young to understand but I thought the Easter bunny was a giant real bunny who walked on his hind legs, approximately the size of Buggs. I thought this because my friend's older brother had DEFINITELY seen him and that's how he described him. I distinctly remember having lengthy discussion about this
Our moms must have been dying with laughter but as ridiculous as that explanation is, I hope my DD is innocent enough to believe as much as we did. I mean, he REALLY saw the bunny.
I find the mall bunnies creepy, but yes, the pics on the bunny's lap were definitely a thing when I was kid because I went every year- I'm 32.

We went to the mall bunny last night and DD1 told him to remember she wants paw patrols and especially Zuma. So, she thinks a giant bunny brings things.

She thinks it's a giant bunny. We went to Smithaven last week and she reminded him she really loves the trolls and m&ms.

Re: Easter bunny confusion - man vs. bunny
I tell my kids that the bunny we see is the Easter Bunny's "helper." He just helps out at events and is a representative. I do the same with Santa though. Santa is too busy working to be at all the places we see him so he sends "helpers" that look like him.

My ds knows the bunny isn't real so we don't really discuss particulars.

I'm 42..............I grew up believing in the Easter Bunny so it's not new.
My kids have never specifically asked about the size of the bunny, they really don't ask anything at all. They just can't wait to see their baskets, that's all they talk about. LOL

I'm 43 and we definitely had an Easter bunny growing up. It's totally nothing new.
So this thread got me thinking and I asked DD last night- "is the Easter bunny a little bunny that hops around or a tall bunny like you see in pictures from the mall?" She said, it's a tall bunny like in that picture you showed me of so and so (our friend's baby) sitting on his lap.
I said how do you know?
She said well because a tiny little bunny that hops around couldn't bring all those big Easter baskets.
So there you have it from the mind of a 6 year old

Easter bunny confusion - man vs. bunny
I grew up with an intense fear of the easter bunny. I used to cry on easter eve until my parents said they would talk to the bunny and would have him leave the basket on the outside steps.
I don't do the easter bunny and never will - my oldest is 3, he just thinks grandma will give him candy.

Out god, I don't even know what to say if my 4yo asks! I guess I would say it's a big bunny like the one at the mall? I agree that it seems obviously fake and hopefully it won't make her question Santa if she figures it out.
