Early Walking Question
So dd (13.5 months) has been walking alot in the last two weeks. She is super sturdy and can walk clear across a room no problem, walks from room to room, walks on grass etc, but she still isn't really standing herself up on her own if that makes any sense. If I want her to walk I have to stand her up, or she has to pull up on something like furniture. Also even though she is super sturdy she still prefers crawling to walking. My two questions are Did anyones dc walk well before regurlarly getting themselves in the standing position? and Even though they walked well did anyones dc prefer crawling for some length of time? Did it just switch one day lol. Thanks!

Re: Early Walking Question
Well, I don't know if I can exactly answer your question because DD definitely pulled her self up first and stood sometimes before walking...
but I will say, one random day she started taking a lot more steps...and then from that day on she kept doing more and more and now she's really walking! I wouldn't worry so much, its really a confidence thing and when they feel like doing it, they will. When DD started walking, she still reverted back to crawling...but then one day she just kept walking more and more...
I also never "helped" her walking or getting her up, so maybe if you let her be to figure it out on her own? I know my DD started doing like a downward dog yoga position for awhile in her crib, and then she would bend her knees and balance, so now she's learned to bend her knees and use her hands to get up (without leaning on something)
HTH!

Re: Early Walking Question
Thanks Brownie,
Last sunday she went from taking steps a few times a day to walking alot, but still prefering crawling! I was just wondering how much longer till she gave up crawling (I really hated the crawling stage and LOVE her walking and am anxious for her to do it altogether lol). Its just funny she has great balance, can stand forever independently, and can walk to whatever she wants (but just doesn't!), so I guess we'll see!!
