Early Sonos

When is the earliest chance to hear a HB?

I'm asking because I had a sono at 5 weeks since, as posted in another thread, I was nervous about cramping. They confirmed I was 5 weeks, but said it was too early for a HB.

They want me to come in one week from today, for another sono. By then, I'll be just over 6 weeks.

I don't want to go in for a sono if the chances of hearing the HB are not strong since it is too early. It will just make me nervous.

For those who had sonos before 7 or 8 weeks, did you hear a HB?

TIA.

Re: Early Sonos

I just had one today at what I thought was 7w2d, but the sono found that the baby is only 6w developed. We didn't see a hb, but the OB has me coming back for another sono on Friday. She told me that at this stage in the game 3 or 4 more days should make a big difference - if the baby is in fact only 6w it's still early to see it for some people. If you're early in your 6th week when you go there's probably a good chance that you might just see it and not hear it yet...GL though - I hope that you do! Chat Icon

Re: Early Sonos

I think 6 1/2 weeks is when you can hear it. We heard ours at 7 weeks 4 days.

I was 7w3d from LMP but my dates had been pushed back a week (ovulated on CD18), so was measuring 6w3d when we saw the heartbeat.

I saw your post on this board and meant to post a reply, but didn't get to. Wanted to tell you that the baby could measure a week behind for lots of reasons including late ovulation (unless you know exactly the date which you o'd) and late implantation. Best of luck to you! I had sonos at 6 and 8 weeks. We saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks and heard it at 8. It was one of the most amazing sounds I've ever heard.

Re: Early Sonos

I had my first sono today-- based on my last period, I would be 5w5days, but I KNOW that that is not right for me, because my cycles are longer than 28 days and I know when I o'd-- so, I think I am just at 5 weeks today.

I saw the gestational sac and I thought the doc told me that they saw the yolk sac, but then they gave me a report that said it wasn't there.. Chat Icon

Going again next week, hoping there is more there.
