Early drop off for elementary students in W. Hempstead.
Hi! I'm moving my family from Queens to West Hempstead. Looking forward to the move however I am concerned about one major issue. My wife and I both work for the City of NY and have to be at work in the AM. We just found out that there is no early drop off program in our school district and we are now wondering what to do. Any other parents out there that work for the city and come across this dilemma with your family? BTW we have no family or friends in our surrounding area to help us.

Check with daycare centers near the school. The daycare my DD used to go to had a before and after care program that the buses would pick up from in the AM and drop off to after school.

When you say they have no early drop off program, does that mean they do not offer a before-care like Scope?

this! My district has before care but it starts at 730 and I am halfway into the city by then so we will be using a local daycare.
but it looks like the district has SCOPE

I found a mom local to my area to watch my son in the AM. My district does have before/after care but my son did not do well in it. It's great having someone come to the house and she stays til he gets on the bus. But it costs a lot more than the school program.

This will be my situation in the fall. I am hoping to find someone on care.com to come to my house for an hour to put my son on the bus. If not I'll be begging my boss to come in an hour late lol.

Thanks for all the replies!!! There is Scope in this district, however it is for afternoon hours only. I'm going to reach out to a local resident/mother who provides this type of service. Thanks again!

When my DS goes to elementary school he'll need to go to daycare for before and after care.
