early bleeding? TMI - please help

Hi girls, I'm hoping you can help me with some info from your experiences:

I ovulated around November 3rd and got a positive digital pregnancy test on Thanksgiving (November 25th). :) I should have gotten my period on Tuesday, the 23rd. This morning I woke up with a stomach ache (like I usually get the day before my period). If I hadn't taken the HPT, I would say I currently got my period this morning. It's not heavy, but it's definitely bright red when I wipe. Sorry for TMI.... My grandma always said she "got her period" when she was pregnant with my dad and uncles so she didn't always know she was pregnant right away. I put a pantiliner on and am going to see what happens today. I know the internet's a dangerous thing b/c I'm searching and some people say a spot is a miscarriage and others say they bled like their periods and have healthy babies. Does anyone here have a positive experience with early bleeding that still resulted in a viable pregnancy?

If you think it's a m/c, is there anything I should do? I didn't even call my OB yet w/ the BFP news....

thanks

Re: early bleeding? TMI - please help

I had two experiences with early bleeding. My first pregnancy I bled pretty much the whole time and then it progressed to clotting and I miscarried at 9 weeks (baby didn't grow past 6 weeks) now this pregnancy I bled bright red for a week and even squirted blood on the floor after an ultrasound during week 6 and baby is fine with a strong hb. Both times I had a subchorionic hematoma which is fairly common and is known to cause bleeding in pregnancy. Generally the gematina will either bleed out or absorb.

Best advice I can give is make an appointment, rest, no prolonged standing and drink plenty of water and take iron supplements.

Best wishes

No, b/c I read online that people still get + hpts weeks after m/c's sometimes, so I don't want to go overly analyze or get my hopes up or anything.... I just want to hear from one of you who's btdt, that it happened to someone and worked out OK.... I am reading online from ppl who said they had random weeklong bleeding later in their pg, but I feel like this is so early....

My cousin is pg now and she said she didn't know she was due so soon b/c she "got her period for 2 months" when she was supposed do so she didn't realize she was pg. She's a RN, too. Sooooo.... maybe I'm OK. I hope so! Uggggh so stressful!!!

while this is true since you are so early your HCG isnt super high so if you were m/c an HPT could come up negative within the next few days since you just got the positive recently and know when you ovulated.

there are tons of stories both ways - people bleeding heavily and being fine and minor spotting that lead to m/c. at this point its so early theres not much that can be done. the ONLY thing you can try and do (besides Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ) is see if your dr. will run beta blood tests on you to see if your HCG is rising. if it is normally rising then the bleeding shouldnt be an issue. it's really the only thing that can determine anything at this point.

good luck!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: early bleeding? TMI - please help

Are you cramping? Bright red blood & cramping is symptomatic of a miscarriage. This happened with my first pregnancy at 8 weeks, but I had very uncomfortable cramping. For my last pregnancy, I was hemmoraging at 6 weeks and thought for sure I was having a second m/c but it was a subchorionic hematoma. Now I have a healthy DD. I was not cramping at all with that bleed.

ETA- I would call your doctor. In the mean time, drink a ton of water, lay with your feet elevated and rest as much as possible. Don't take any supplements not approved by your doc.

Aside from bloodwork, an exam will tell the doc if your cervix is open or closed tight. If it's open, you are likely miscarrying. It will give you some peace of mind. They did that for me at the ER and essentially told me that baby was fine.

Re: early bleeding? TMI - please help

I've had 2 experiences with bleeding. 2 months ago I had a BFP on a digital and 3 days later I was bleeding and cramping. It turned out to be a chemical.

This past friday I had a positive BETA with a good number. The next day I was bleeding bright red with a little cramping like my period. Went for a second blood test today and my numbers more than doubled over the last 2 days. So all they said was it was unexplained bleeding and I should take it easy.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow. I took a HPT this morning though and it was negative, so it looks like I'm out Chat Icon You make me hopeful for trying again next month though.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm going to assume since I got the negative today, I'm no longer pregnant Chat Icon I'm calling the doctor tomorrow, but I can't see how this could have any positive outcome right now Chat Icon And yes, I have cramps, just like my period.

Dumb question, but does this "count" as my period, meaning I'll ovulate again like normal in a few days and can try again?

We are so sad Chat Icon
