Ear Infection

Has anyone treated an ear infection naturally? And were you successful? I was told warm garlic oil helps.

DD has one and the urgent care Dr. prescribed her amoxicillin. I'm not big on giving her antibiotics but, I did. She's had 2 doses already and she now has diarrhea.

She just got over a stomach virus last week~~ My poor baby's bottom!!!

DS is prone to ear infections.. The pedi always gives me an antibiotic. My son never takes more then one dose of it and they usually go away on their own.. The only time I pushed the antibiotic was when he had a fever of 102 with it.. But he ended up being allergic to that one!!! At PM peds, they told me that they like to wait 2-3 days and see how the child is doing without antibiotics. Most go away without any meds.. If she doesn't have a high fever and is acting pretty much herself, then I would wait it out.. Give her yogurt or probiotics for hr belly..

My DS Had horrific diarrhea and yeast diaper rash from amoxi and in the end it didn't get rid of the infection anyway (he needed a second course of ab's). He did much better w/ omnicef. In retrospect I wish I had just stopped the amoxi when it destroyed his GI tract and let the doc know. I would say if the Amoxi is making herself feel worse then the initial ear infection did let the doc know, they maybe able to try a different antibiotic. Sorry I don't have advice on a natural cure other then tincture of time and pain meds as needed
