Both are great. I love east rockaway town and the SD is pretty good.

The town is nice. A lot of really nice old houses.....The schools are iffy....The elementry schools are good, but East Rockaway high school isnt that great.

I knew a few people that grew up there....

I have to disagree Scott. It's not Herricks or anything but it is a good district.

I student taught there in the late 90s. I don't know if it has changed since then. But when I was there the high school (and it's 7-12 in one building) had issues with drug use- it was pretty bad, for such a small school. And in the graduating class of over a hundred, less than a fourth graduated with Regents diplomas. That's a dismal statistic and I remember the teachers were very concerned with improving that.

On the plus side, it is a small district, which is nice. The teachers were mostly very good. And it's a nice community.

I think if you Google the SD, you will get some stats on graduation rates and test scores. That will give you some idea of how it's improved (or not) over the years.
