Re: Dyson or Electrolux??
There are quite a few threads on this topic. Basically, the Dyson is very good, but there are several other brands that are noticeably better, and half the price.

Agreed..we bought a Kenmore and love it. 2nd Kenmore for us. Kenmore also has the highest rating by Consumer Reports. Check out the ratings.

Re: Dyson or Electrolux??
My MIL bought me an electrolux for my shower, and honestly, I am not that impressed!
It was $700 - and I like my Mom's Kenmore better.

I have had both, with the Dyson currently.
Overall, I prefer a canister to an upright. My Kenmore was a handme down I had for over 10 years and that vacuum was just as powerful as my new Dyson. Once the Dyson goes, I'm going to get another Kenmore canister.
The one big plus to an upright, it's easier to clean with but the attachment's abilities don't compare.

Re: Dyson or Electrolux??
we have the yellow dyson.. the difference of the purple one is a special pet attachment... dh and i think it is "ok", I think id get the same results with a 100 vacumm, plenty of times we have to go back over the same area again 2-3 times....

Re: Dyson or Electrolux??
I inherited my grandmother's canister style Electrolux and loved it. It was starting to die after 20 years, and the cost to have it repaired was about 25% - 30% of the cost of a new one, and given the age, it was putting a lot of money into something quite old so we bought a new one. That was about 8 - 10 years ago and we have no regrets.
I'm not a big fan of bagless vacuums I have a small one I use for quick touchups and the crap gets all over everytime I have to empty it. I prefer the easy of lifting out a closed bag that contains all the dirt I've collected, rather than shaking it into the trash bin and into the air again.
