Dust and dark furniture!
How do you keep dark furniture dust free? I've tried microfiber cloths but they just push the dust around most times. I've tried using a wet microfiber followed by a dry microfiber but even that doesn't get it all, and honestly who has the time? The dust always settles in the spindles and all the little nooks and crannies. And about 5 minutes after i've dusted there is a fine layer of dust on the furniture all over again (from the dust that floated into the air and then settled back down) and it makes it look like I didn't even dust it in the first place. I give up! Help! TIA!
Eta: any natural solutions? Not a big fan of chemical cleaners.

Nothing works
I have just come to the conclusion that it will always have some dust on it.
If I'm having "dust worthy" company over, I'll do it right before they arrive so it looks it's best. But other then that, I pledge every other week and dust as I clean the house.

If you have a lot of windows, you are going to have dust. Getting blinds will help a little. Also, have you ever cleaned out your vent pipes? In my old house we had one room that was basically all windows, there were eight full windows in the space and it was always so dusty.

Re: Dust and dark furniture!
Baseboard heating is the cause. My aunt used to dust 3 times a day, literally. I dust whenever I see it and bothers me which is usually every other day unless someone comes over.

Re: Dust and dark furniture!
For me, Swiffer sweepers or dusters remove the dust and don't send it up in the air.

Re: Dust and dark furniture!
A Vacuum. Over the years I've found that "dusting" really doesn't remove the dust well. I use one of the small attachments on my vacuum cleaner and I vacuum the furniture. Then, after I vacuum, I go back over it with a Swiffer Sweeper or a paper towel and some cabinet magic. It's a PITA, and I have to do it once a week, but it does make a big difference.

Question- how does blinds keep the dust down? What about the windows causes dust?

Yes I'm also curious about these questions, and what about baseboard heating causes dust?

Ditto this. I use these to dust since they hold the dust in unlike a feather duster or a cloth.
