Dumb question
I have never decorated the outside of my house for Christmas.
So- 1) Do I need special outdoor lights, or are the ones I have ok?
2) How do I hang the lights?
Thanks.

Re: Dumb question
You have to get the outdoor lights - you can get them at Sears, Walmart, Target etc. I think they usually come with them but they have clips that attach to your house (my DH usually does it so I am telling you by my observation lol). We have to run a power cord outside to get it to work..we have no outside outlet.

Re: Dumb question
You need the outdoor kind as PP said.
If you are putting them in the bushes, you don't need anything. Just don't wrap the lights too tightly around the bushes because the branches will get brittle as it gets colder and you might damage the bushed when you take them down after Christmas.
If you are putting lights on the house you need plastic clips. I saw 100 of them at Sears the other day for $6. You just clip the plastic things to the gutter or to your siding and slip the wire from the lights into it.
It really is very simple. You may need an extension cord also. Make sure you use an outdoor cord. The outdoor extension cord is a heavier guage and will survive the elements better.
Good luck and have fun.
