dumb question....

but I come from kindergarten...and now am teaching third..i got my list and room today ....can someone share what a "day in 3rd" is like? I am trying to plan or get an idea and don't even know where to start.....

I taught 3rd 2x in NYC. Alot of it was teaching for the test especially since these kids are new to the NYS states although they have most likely taken the terranova and other such tests.

Just like K routines are very important. 3rd is a transitional year going from Primary to Intermediate. I worked a lot on independent reading and reading skills ie..main idea, inference, compare and contrast, fact and opinion. Main idea is huge for the test. So is editing. I would work on editing almost from Day 1.

Also I worked on building stamina in writing.
