Due 1 week from today, contraction question

Ok ladies for the btdt ladies, I am due one week from today and tonight just got sharp pains in my lower abdomen....my question is the doctor said to call if contractions are 5 to 7 minutes apart.....will real true contractions totally stop you in your tracks???

When it is labor you will know! I was having pre labor and contractions for 2 weeks I kept thinking I was going into labor but when it really happened it DID stop me in my tracks.

Yes, most doctors will tell you that if you are having a true labor contraction, you will not be able to talk while you are feeling it. This was definitely the case with me last time!

I did not have stop me in my tracks contractions until I was at the hospital. It started with some mild tightening in my upper abdomen, not too bad I fell asleep. Then woke up bc my water broke, went to the hospital and had moderate "period" cramps the whole way. More intense contractions didn't start until I was already at the hospital. Good luck!!

Cal, my dr said until you cannot walk, talk, read a newspaper through them that's when you know they are real. You will know

Mine didn't.
At least not until after 5 cm or so.
To me they felt like a sharp tightening or spasming of my abdomen.
It would hurt- but not to the point where I was like WHOA HOLY CRAPPP

It didn't get that way until around 5 cm for me and then I got my epi so I don't know how bad it was after that- I felt nothing after that.

But this is coming from a woman with kidney and gallstones- so to me labor pains were like a walk in the park compared to that!

Now I noticed that around my belly button the skin pgimentation must have changed, eww it looks pretty black and blue!
I want this baby to come out already!

With #1, I did not have bad contractions until they started the pitocin and broke my water at the same time. With my other 2, i had such easy contractions, lasting maybe 30 sec, not strong at all, until I got my epi at around 8 cm (only reason I got the epi was I was scared of what to come! haha) With #2, my water broke, that's why I was in the hospital, and #3 was bc I had my bloody show, and went to the dr, who sent me to the hospital.

Hoping this one is just as easy!!!
