Re: DSLR lens - need recommedation pls

you want something that is considered a fast lens. That f (fstop) number should be anything 3.5 and under.

AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX Lens
AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Lens
40 mm f/2.8G AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor Lens

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital

Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Lens

How about AF S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G? Which is better? What are differences? I would like to get a little zoom. Thanks so much!

The only zoom that I put up is Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II VC LD Aspherical. The others are "prime" which means you have to do the legwork and move in and out with your feet.

If you want a quick lens (that allows more light and shoot in lower light) you have to look for something with a low number on the F-stop. Ex. F2.8 or F1.8, anything in the 2.8 is fast, anything around 3. something is decent and above is slow which means you need more available light.
