Dslr camera!
I am looking to purchase a dslr. Any recommendations? Right now I am looking at a Nikon d3100 or 5100.
I an amateur but good with technology.

Look at the Canon Rebel t4i and the Sony a57 too.

All 4 are good. I suggest you go look at one in person (if you can) see how it fits in your hand. How does it feel when you hold it up? Etc. I got a Nikon D60 at first and within a week it was back. I didn't like the picture quality. So I got a D90 been happy ever since. The 3100/5100 weren't out back then.

I have the D5100 and love it. So does DH and he was on the fence about getting a DSLR originally.

I just bought the D3100 a couple months back and love it.
It is very easy to use, and takes high quality pictures.
I defintely recommend it. I feel like having a high quality camera when you have young kids is such a great investment.
Have fun with it! (and shop around for the best price)

Same! I love my Nikon D5100! I love Nikon in general.
