DS screams for DH between 6:30-8+ pm when I work...

I went back to work this week. I work and 3 given days a weeks for 12.5 hr shifts with a 30 min commute each way - that makes me gone from 6:15 am (DS is still sleeping then) until at least 8 pm (if I get out on time). SO this week I worked Monday, Tuesday, and today (Friday). All day he is fine, happy, smiling, his usual self. MIL is with him at our place form 8:30-5:30 while DH works from home. Something happens around 6pm (what is the question???) and he cries hysterically, inconsolably, for about an hour or more. Is he realizing I'm gone and freaks out? Anyone ever have anything like this before? I hope he adjusts soon.

Going back to work is hard enough (leaving him AND my job makes me lose it). Coming home to him crying and fussing and cranky is terrible.

Tonight I walked in while DH was giving him his bottle (which he cried through, which I've never seen before). When he was done I took him to get diaper change and PJs on and he was happy and smiling and laughing. We hung out for 30-45 min and just laughed and played and enjoyed each other before I put him to sleep.

Anything I can do??? Please tell me it's gets better!

EDIT: DS is 4.5 months old, and doesn't cry like this on the days I don't work.

How old is he?

DS had what I have heard referred to as the "Witching Hour" for a few monthsChat Icon He would scream & fuss the same way for nearly 1-2 hours a night WHOEVER was with him....I want to say this was when he wa around 4-6 months old.....

Then it just ended!

Sounds like the witching hour. Dd still goes through this. Nothing can help them during this time. Then they get over it. They are just tired and cranky.

I'm a new mama too but from what I hear most babies have their witching hour where they fuss and yell. My DS usually screams around thAt time too, just as DH get home which stinks bc, like your DH I'm sure, they wait all day to see them and then get the fussy babyChat Icon

I still think witching hour. He just wants his mommy by the end of the day!
