DS 9m stopped saying the only word he could (dada)
He was saying it all day every day for about 2 weeks and for the past week or more he hasnt said it at all, even with us trying to get him to. Dh is concerned as to why he cant/wont say it anymore. Any insight? Is this a reason for concern? TIA:

My doctor always said kids regress in an area(s) when they are learning a new skill.

DD (almost 10m) used to say it all the time but now only on occasion. She now will say mama or gah with the occasional dada thrown in

Totally normal. As PP said... Once they start a new skill they put another one off. DS2 was a late walker, but talked early. Could be he'll be doing something new soon, getting teeth that's bothering him, concentrating on something new and just bored saying da da, etc. They are amazing and will be doing everything all at once one day and you'll miss the small things. One day he'll make a new sound that screeches and drives you nuts. Lol. Wait till that happens. Then you'll hope they stop. The teeth grinding is irritating too, but everything is a phase. Enjoy!

I wouldn't worry. 9 months is early. My dd is finally saying ma ma maaammm without really clue what it means. They go thru phases and when they learn something new they will stop with something else.

Re: DS 9m stopped saying the only word he could (dada)
My son was saying Dada, Mama and Dog. Then nothing but sounds for awhile. He's not back on Dada, Dank (thank you) and that's about it lol. Everything else is gaga this and caca that. My doc told me not to worry yet. My son is too worried about eating everything in sight and walking backwards lol.
Doc said that he's more advanced physically so the words will just come later.
Oh DS is 15m.

My DD does that everytime she comes out with a new word. We won't hear the word she was saying over and over until she has said the new word.

Totally normal!!! It's scary, but no need to be alarmed. He is likely concentrating on new tasks. DD has a few words she doesn't use anymore.
