DS 3rd Birthday
DS is a May baby and turning 3. He is very much looking forward to a birthday party with his friends.
I originally thought of inviting his class (they are 5 kids) over for cake and pizza after his school day is over on his actual birthday.
But then there are other kids plus family he'd want at his party. So then the list grows to like 15-20 kids depending on if siblings now come since its a house bbq. But I dont want that many people.
Does it make sense to do 2 parties? 1 with just his classmates on his birthday and then a BBQ with extended friends and family. This will keep the guest counts normal and prevent me from booking a big birthday party.

Either that or a big party at a place. Remember, your RSVP will not be 100%

Re: DS 3rd Birthday
I prefer one party. After the 1st birthday party, we only do kids + grandparents and our siblings so adults are kept to a minimum.
DS's 3rd birthday was a Pump it Up. His 4th at Nunley's Carousel. We will do DD's 2nd birthday at one of the "play" places most likely.

Re: DS 3rd Birthday
i don't have much family around but I have friends that do a party for their kids with friends and then just have family over for cake.
I just have one party and only invite family and friends with kids to it (which definitely makes my list grow DD 6th birthday list was 46 people and I had to cut her from inviting her cheer team granted only about 23 total RSVP and came which I was very grateful for!! )
one time for DD I had a kid party and then one for people who didn't have kids to celebrate her birthday and it was too much. I said I was just doing cake but of course I then ordered food cause I felt weird not doing it. So I didn't do it again cause honestly IMO I am sure the people that came didn't really care to much about celebrating and I felt it made them feel obligated to buy something for her. I do mention to friends that don't have kids they are more than welcome to come to the kid party (which has of now has never been held at my house)if they really want to celebrate with them
