Dryer repair
Does anyone know how much something like this would cost? We have your good old-fashioned Whirlpool Dryer. It's about 6 years old and it just completely stopped spinning. The past couple of months it's been taking 2-3 runs just to dry the clothes. We don't have the money to buy a new one right now. After the holidays, but just can't right now. Is it really expensive to get it repaired do you think?

Re: Dryer repair
IDK but I'm guessing probably more than what a new (affordable) dryer would cost... You can get a new one for less than 500.00

Re: Dryer repair
ours broke in our apt and the LL was going to get it fixed and the appliance repair guy said don't bother. It will cost almost the same as getting a new one.

Re: Dryer repair
Dryers are really easy to fix. If it stopped spinning the belt either fell off or needs to be replaced. If the heat is a concern the element needs replacing. Just unplug and take the back panel off. If you can work a screw driver you can fix it! Go to an appliance store to purchase the parts. They will even explain how to install the new ones.

Re: Dryer repair
Typical appliance repairs are about $150-200 give or take.

Re: Dryer repair
My dryer stopped working, too. I opened it up, saw the damaged belt, spent less than $10, and fixed it myself...

Re: Dryer repair
I agree about trying to fix it yourself. Google your model number and "repair" and you will probably find instructions

Re: Dryer repair
We had a problem with our washer and it was only about $90 to fix it.
