Dr.Trongone & TTC-questions
Hi!
Sorry to crash here. But I thought you ladies would know. If you are a patient of his I have a few questions:
1) How soon in advance of TTC does he recommend getting off of birth control?
2) How soon in advance of TTC does he want you to start prenatal vitamins?
3) Does he prescribe them, or does he tell you to take OTC ones?

Re: Dr.Trongone & TTC-questions
Idk who Dr Trongone is but I can tell you that in general, most OBs will tell you three months for those first two questions... As for the third, when you're TTC, you'll be taking the OTC ones - Idk if they'll even prescribe them until you're preggers. When I became preggers, I tried four different samples and decided to stay on my OTC ones anyway which my OB supported 100%. I'm now almost 23 weeks with a healthy boy!!!

I think your best bet is to ask him those questions. He is a great Dr & very approachable.

Re: Dr.Trongone & TTC-questions
First of all LOVE Dr. Trongone. I dont know about birth control but I remember him saying you can take folic acid before TTC and that that is enough.. no specifgic time period. Definitly ask him though, like pp said he is very approachable, or call and speak gto any of the nurses in the office.

I guess every dr is different but mine told me that the numbers in my OTC prenatals matched up with the Rx ones so I stayed on OTC.

Re: Dr.Trongone & TTC-questions
he said one month off, get a period then you can try. confirm this for your specific case though
i never took prenatals until i got my BFP
i have taken prescription prenatals and no rx, he said either was fine. with the non rx i added extra folic acid on his instruction
he is wonderful - you are in great hands!

Re: Dr.Trongone & TTC-questions
I am a patient of his, and he never said anything about rx prenatals. I take the Kirkland brand from Costco and he's cool with that, he just wanted to make sure they had DHA which they do.
As for the other questions, my prior ob/gyn told me to go off the pill and I could TTC, but that my cycle might be out of whack for a bit, which it was. She also said start taking prenatals as soon as I start TTC.
Good luck!
