Drop in Market
Just to settle a family argument I am currently having...do you feel that in the past year the market has dropped alot in order to buy a house? Do you think there is a lot more room for negotiation? Or do you think the market is still high? TIA My family drives me nuts!

Re: Drop in Market
I think there is definitely room for negotiations. There are no more bidding wars. Sellers don't have it easy anymore. It has become a buyer's market.
BUT I don't think prices have dropped - at least not what I have seen from last year in my neighborhood/area. I think some sellers thought they could still get a 20% increase in one year and tried to list their house at that price and learned that they had to reduce it to a more "fair" price.

Re: Drop in Market
depends on the price range you are looking at
I do feel the higher end houses have definitely shown a drop in price... Def room for negotiation
The 350-420 range....some range for negotiating, some decrease in price...But nothing that shocking ETA...unless something it grossly overpriced...like on a couple of us saw recently (which dropped 50K) or the desperation of the seller (which IMO isn't all that common)

Re: Drop in Market
I think there has been a drop. I think you can get a house that needs less work for the same amount of money you would have had to pay last year. There is definitely more room for negotiation.

Re: Drop in Market
THANK YOU LADIES! My Aunt swears that houses today are a steal and that you can negotiate sales easily because sellers are desperate. I have been watching certain areas for a year and did not find that huge a drop at all!

Re: Drop in Market
we've been looking since Jan but had our eye on the market for a bout a year. I haven't noticed a huge drop, but houses are coming down in price due to LI's huge inventory and rising interest rates.
