Driving into the city... where to park?

DH and I have to go to the city Sunday. Since the trains are still all messed up, we're planning on driving, which we pretty much never do!

We have to go to Times Square but are not opposed to walking a bit to get there. Where is the best and cheaper place to park?

Thanks for any info Chat Icon

There is a garage next to our building-56th and lexington across from fridays. Its never full and its $17 for up to 12 hours and $36 up to 24hours. We walk to times square and the theaters when its nice out. The are a few other garages in our neighborhood too I'm sure they are on the site that was posted.

The marathon is Sunday so you might want to consider driving into queens and taking the subway.

Well apparently the Port Washington line doesn't go through Penn so we are probably going to drive over there and take that line in.

Lol Ugh I meant Jamaica not Penn! Chat Icon Duh of course they all go to Penn. Too many names in my head right now.

Anyway i guess now we're taking Babylon. It goes through Jamaica and is one of the lines the runners are being advised to take.

Re: Driving into the city... where to park?

Do you really want to drive into the city during the Marathon ?

You could always drive into Queens, park somewhere and take the subway to Times Square, or take the LIRR from the Port Washington Line.

Re: Driving into the city... where to park?

we always drive in to the city. We just park uptown on a side street near a subway station. Much easier than paying for and finding parking mid town and downtown. We also don't ahve kids to drag around either - not sure if you do...

That's *exactly* what I was going to suggest. LIC is pretty good for parking and the train is right there- the city is 2 stops away? Maybe 1 even.
