Driving Distance??
Hello Everyone!
We want to go away for our first anniversary (July 29th), but really can't afford to fly anywhere...and my dad is taking us to Hawaii over Christmas so we don't want anything too crazy. We were thinking of going someplace within driving distance. We're not really into bed and breakfasts...and there definitely has to be things to do (not just sitting on a beach bc my DH has ants in his pants). We don't want to do Boston (his dad lives up there and we head up there often).
Any suggestions?? Throw them all out...I'm looking for anything!!

Niagara Falls & Toronto, we did this in 4 days last summer (also at the end of July). Lots of fun & a lot to do there.

What about Mohonk Mountain House - they have a lake, hiking, horseback riding, spa etc. There are plenty of things to do or not do based on your mood and it is an easy drive. We were there many years ago and Stephan King was there writing (they said he goes there a lot).

New Hampshire (like the omni mount washington resort)

Fire island. You can get a bungalow for a week or weekend or rent a hotel. Ocean beach is our favorite.
