driving around for naptime
Has anyone else just accepted this as a way of life, even though it's a bad habit?
Around 1yr old, DD was finally able to fall asleep on her own for a nap in her crib. It lasted about 3 months & that was it, she just wont nap on her own.
I've rocked her for ever, let her cry, laid with her...nothing worked so I just drive her around.
She's 18 months & I can't handle hearing her scream from her crib "mommy mommy & rock rock" (for me to rock her) its heartbreaking.
I think I just have to accept the fact that I have to drive her around everyday.
Does anyone else to this? Do you think this will ever change? Sorry for complaining but this has always been my biggest battle with DD

Re: driving around for naptime
My second ds would only nap in the car or the stroller. It was annoying but sometimes you just have to do what works for you. With him we would go for a walk and then just bring him home if it was nice out keep him in the backyard and if it was chilly bring the stroller inside.
Good Luck

Been there done that! My 2 kids are only 15 months apart so there naptimes were always different unless I put them in the car. I must have driven thousands I miles during these naptimes!
Finally when they got a little older I could settle them down at home - which is so liberating!

Re: driving around for naptime
We did. We moved my oldest to a toddler bed, and she refused to nap. It got so we stopped trying. We'd drive her around until, she fell asleep. Only for a few months though.

driving around for naptime
My biggest issue with DD is getting her to nap too.. so I completely understand. it has been making me CRAZY. Driving her around is the only thing that works consistently but the second I stop the engine she wakes up and I just cant afford to drive around for 2 hours! and dont have the patience to sit in my driveway with her.. SO this week I am ttrying to get her into a routine (lunch or snack followed quiet book time) and cut her naps down to 1x a day (around 12;00)- and so far its been working ok.. not great but ok =). I dont have the patience to do CIO for naps, and she always outlasts me, she still wont nap in the crib, I have to lay down next to her on my bed then sneak away.
