Drinking on TV
Has anyone noticed lately that everyone on TV drinks all the time? Doesn't matter what they are doing everyone has a drink in their hand. It's like drinking has replaced cigarette smoking.
Just for discussion I'm wondering if others notice it.

No I haven't. But then again, having a drink is normal adult behavior to me, so I may not be noticing it.

This! I grew up with my parents having a glass or two with dinner after they come home from work. DH and I have a drink here and there during the week. Usually more in the summer when we can sit outside.
I remember when the boys used to watch Peppa Pig I noticed they had a glass of wine with dinner. LOL

And years ago, I thought they had more fake alcohol when they did drink on-air, but now you'll see people comment on talk shows and such about it actually being real alcohol.

I do notice when a character smokes cigarettes though.

I don't really watch the usual TV shows, so I have not noticed, but my DH gave up alcohol and I gave up coffee for Lent and we were amazed how many FB posts involve alcohol and coffee!

Wasn't it against the law to drink alcholol at least on live tv. I could have sworn that use to be a thing that when they made a drink say on a new cast they weren allowed to drink it.
Has that change or am I making up this whole thing

Same here.
I do notice when a character smokes cigarettes though.
That I do notice, not because I really care if anyone smokes, but because it's treated in today's world like shooting up heroin, lol!

do you mean reality tv or scripted shows?
i don't think i've noticed any more/less drinking at all, but maybe thats because i usually have a drink in my hand too

i don't think i've noticed any more/less drinking at all, but maybe thats because i usually have a drink in my hand too
I suppose it would be on scripted shows as I don't watch too much reality tv.
I'm not saying that having a drink isn't normal. To me it just seems like everyone is always having a drink. Maybe coming from a family history of alcoholics I am just more sensitive to it.
