Dr. David Gold- pediatric gastro
He was recommended by my mom's GI for my son. I was wondering if anyone had feedback on him. I was also wondering how his first appointments with infants are structured. TIA

Dr. David Gold- pediatric gastro
My DS saw another dr in his practice. He is supposed to be very good. We were in that office for about a year (Babylon?). Never waited a long time.

We saw Dr. Gold for a year. He was great. I honestly don't remember the specifics of our first visit, but he spent time with me and made sure I understood and was comfortable with everything. He also spoke with me on the phone when I needed to have questions answered between visits.

Great to hear. :) From your experience with him, do you think he will be quick to put DS on formula? Or will he be okay with me continuing to BF?

He would have been fine with me continuing to BF, but my DD reacted severely to me eating anything with casein or soy and after several weeks of my trying to remove it from my diet, she still had blood in her stool. He didn't push anything on me. He was so down to earth and seemed to listen to me.

He seems wonderful from what you're saying. Last question...did it take long for the dietary reactions to be diagnosed?

Everyone I talk to loves him. I liked him too. We only went once then dd was followed by the ped. She went at 2/3 weeks. She was arching at feedings and we switched her to alimentum the week before our apt per the ped. They added axid and malox.

Love, love, love Dr. Gold!!! I can't say enough good things about him. We saw him for about 2 years with my DD. He really listens to the Mom, and will take into consideration what your thoughts and ideas are. More than once, I disagreed with what he wanted to do (including inserting a feeding tube), and he listened to what I had to say and worked with me. He is definately a proponent of BFing if that's what you're doing. The first visit, he will take history, talk to you about symptoms, and examine the baby. Will also do a rectal exam if necessary, and test for blood in the stool if he suspects a milk protein allergy. He will also give you specifics on what to try to help your baby, and will make sure you are in agreement and understand everything. I hope you like him.

Re: Dr. David Gold- pediatric gastro
We love him! DD has to go every 6 months right now so we see him often enough. She loves him, and he is a great doctor. He stays current on things, he will not push formula if you want to BF. I do find he talks a lot, haha, butu he really is just trying to give you as much info as possible. I always recommend him.

We already knew that she had blood in her stool from the pediatrician's office, so it was obvious that she had something going on. He had me restrict dairy/casein for 2 weeks and there was still significant blood in her stool so we tried eliminating soy as well and that cleared up the blood finally.

Re: Dr. David Gold- pediatric gastro
We had gone to a different GI based on the hospital our peds work out of. Later on, I learned of dr. gold. A friend of mine travels quite far to use him, and I've only heard amazing things. Had I been aware before, I probably would have used him. Dd has grown out of her milk allergy so no need for me to consider switching at this point.
