I guess you would have to get different bottles. That does seem a little odd though.

As a side note, my DD never drank more than 6 ounces.

The glass bottles have not been a problem for us. We usually feed him 6 and a half ounces now and he'll be off the bottle soon enough. The only problem is that they are heavy, so they have delayed him learning to hold his own bottle.

Kristina has 2 of them. I HATE them b/c they are only 7oz.....

She drinks an 8oz bottle in the am and then fluctuates between a 6 and 7 oz bottle later in the day, so I can only use the DB's for those bottle times, but I'm sure that's going to come to an end soon! Chat Icon

You can sneak another 1/2 oz in there without a problem. It is odd that they decided to make it 7 and not 8 though.

Now my curiosity is peaked.... I just sent them an email regarding this, and wonder what kind of response I will get.

i use the glass bottles and have been wondering the same thing... but DD isnt up to eating more than that yet... so i havent really been too concerned... i think i might order a set of the plastic dr browns bottles for when she gets a little older so she can hold her own bottle...

Dr. Browns makes 8 ounce BPA free plastic bottles if you want to try those instead. They are actually 8.5 ounces. I actually have had problems with the 7 oz glass bottles leaking if i overfill.

Re: Dr. Browns Glass Bottles - Only 7 oz?

I got a response from my email to C/S for Dr. Brown's... Here it is:

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for your email. I know that only being 7oz is somewhat inconvenient but the reason that our bottle is that size is due to wanting all of the bottle components to be interchangeable. All 3 types of our standard size bottle use the exact same parts and since the glass bottle is thicker it has a smaller capacity. I know that we have had similar questions from other parents and our product development department is looking into trying to redesign the glass bottles to make them in an 8oz size and still have the parts interchangeable. I would be glad to keep your information on file and if we do make them larger in the future I would be glad to let you know. I hope I have answered your question but let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Sincerely,

Sherry Smith

Why don't you get the plastic BPA Free onces....that hold more and weigh less.
