Dr. Brown's Bottles
First let me say - I hate cleaning them. I boil the inside parts because I don't feel I can get them clean enough. I've been avoiding throwing them in the dishwasher because I'm afraid of the residue that may be left on them. However, they are the best for DD. I started out with Avent and when DD was 2 months old I switched to Dr. Brown's because of severe gas. Today (DD is 5 months old) I decided to try the Avent again hoping she would be fine. What a terrible day. Sooooo gassy and miserable. I tortured her through 3 avent bottle feedings and finally gave up and put half the 3rd bottle into a Dr. Brown's. Too bad for Mommy. DH is mad at me for putting her through it today but I don't think he has ever cleaned a bottle yet and doesn't understand. So back to Dr. Brown's - my registry recommendation.

Re: Dr. Brown's Bottles
Sorry your baby is feeling like that.... And thanks for posting this. I registered and got these bottles at my shower.....but everyone says the same thing..that they are very hard to clean but as long as it makes the babies happy with no gas....it's worth it.

Thanks for the post!!
I also registered for Dr Browns - I was just trying to figure out how to sterlized them before my little arrives. I have the advent microwave sterilizer - i'm just a little intimidated by it for some reason

Re: Dr. Brown's Bottles
I think it is perfectly safe to put baby bottles, pacifiers even toothbrushs in the dishwasher. Eveyrone I know does it and their kids are fine. Some also use the microwave sterilizer after. If you feel more comfortable, just rinse them really well after the dishwasher, but I dont think anything is wrong.

Re: Dr. Brown's Bottles
Although I have seen many posts that say Dr. Brown bottles are hard to clean they seem to be the best. I am going to register for those. I also think putting them in a dishwasher is safe. All moms that I have asked have said the bottle sterilizer is a waste of money because the dishwasher does just as good a job.
